EGYPT496: Egyptian Hieroglyphs
Spring 2013 3 Credits Final grade: 1.3 Comparative Religion |
HieroglyphsThis class represents my greatest failure at the University. I took it because I felt it would be a very interesting course (it was!) that I would enjoy (I did!).
Initially, I was doing very well in the class. I always had my homework complete and even, at one point, found myself ahead. However, this turned out to be my downfall. Finding myself ahead, I set the work aside to address some coursework elsewhere. At this point I fell behind. I began to lag when we started translating a story, The Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor. It became a vicious circle where I would skip class in an effort to catch up to the class (not wanting my professor to think I was going to class so I could copy down the translation as it was reviewed and not doing the work on my own). But I never was able to catch up. It was a lesson in never setting aside work for another day, no matter where you may stand at the moment. The artifact is the Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor alongside part of my translation. One day, post-graduation, I would like to finish translating the entire story. |
