JAPAN313: 3rd Year Japanese
Spring 2013 5 Credits Final grade: 2.6 Japanese and Linguistics |
3rd Year JapaneseMy last year of Japanese Language study was, predictably, more difficult than my first two. Whereas lectures had been taught in English and quiz sections in Japanese for the first two years of the Japanese program, by year three all instruction was in Japanese only. This, naturally, made things very difficult at times.
The pace of study had only increased and I purchased packs of 100 flash cards at an alarming rate as I studied for my constant flurry of quizzes and exams. It was a really amazing experience and every success was a source of great pride and accomplishment. The last two quarters of 3rd year culminated in similar projects. For second quarter, we were to explain a non-Japanese cultural event. We wrote an essay on the topic which was turned in and prepared a powerpoint presentation in Japanese which we presented to the class. I chose to speak about Yom Kippur in Judaism. For the third quarter, we were instructed to complete a similar project focusing on a Japanese event instead, for which I chose the Cherry Blossom festival. It required a lot of research and was very interesting to complete. I attached the essay portion of the project as my artifact. |
